About

Captain Tyler Bowman

Tyler Bowman is a Lowcountry Native who began fishing this area on his own at the ripe age of ten years old. The beautiful ACE Basin has been Tyler's backyard playground ever since he could remember. Tyler cherished being outside immersed in the marsh which created an unbreakable bond with the land. Growing up exploring the creeks around his home, guiding came naturally to Tyler.  Helping others catch trophy fish on the fly rod is a rewarding feeling that fuels Tyler's passion for sharing what he loves. His goal is to show people the true beauty of the Lowcountry while helping push conservation concerns and documenting the journey along the way.

Capt. Bowman Operates on a
Beavertail Mosquito

Beavertail Skiffs root design is the Mosquito.  At 18’2” in length and with a 70″ beam, the Mosquito is a very capable hull for many situations – however it’s designed to do one thing with absolute perfection: silently stalk inshore game fish in the shallowest coastal waters. Being able to draft a true 6" allows us to get into the A game spots.

The Mosquito also includes a 15-gallon fuel tank, plenty of dry storage and an optional plumbed live well. It’s truly an impressive fishing platform for any inshore angler. And like the rest of the Beavertail Skiffs lineup, its signature Carolina flared bow and integrated spray rails guarantee the driest ride available in its class.

Fly Rods and Reels

Winston rods and Bauer reels are the tools we use on the skiff. Combining our proprietary SuperSilica lightweight resin system and Boron III material with modern progressive tapers, Winston Saltwater AIR and ALPHA+ rods deliver the celebrated Winston “feel”, along with balanced, fast graphite recovery rates, for incredible line speed and presentation, making them our most versatile rods in saltwater environments. What this means for anglers is faster mid-sections to dictate line control and easily manage windy conditions along with Boron III technology applied in the butt section for more lifting strength to fight and land fish quickly.

These larger RX reels were designed to handle and subdue extremely powerful fish such as tarpon, redfish, peacock bass, dorado, permit and other hard fighters that will quickly prove whether a reel is up to the task. They feature stronger seals, a more powerful structure and a drag system that features multiple carbon discs and five times the surface area for maximum stopping power and control.
